Sky Road came from a roadside view in central Indiana, looking across a ditch toward a farm on the horizon.
What drew me to the scene was the road itself. In the changing light, it seemed to reflect the sky, becoming a blue wedge moving through the warmer colors of the land.
The painting continues the direction I had begun with The Hummocks... simplifying the landscape into larger shapes and letting color, movement, and memory do more of the work.
