This painting celebrates the ice fishing shacks that dot frozen lakes across Maine during the winter.
What drew me to the scene was the contrast between the day and the shacks themselves. Everything was gray... the sky, the snow, the ice... while the little structures sat out on the lake like small bursts of color.
There was something almost festive about them against such a quiet winter landscape.
